The organization Citizen Lab in cooperation with the Share Foundation confirmed that spyware was found in my mobile phone.

This discovery points to a serious attack on my privacy, security, and the integrity of the office of Rector.

Spy software Pegasus in my phone is another attempt of intimidation in an effort to prevent any critical attitude and public action.

I demand the competent authorities to conduct an independent, thorough and transparent investigation without delay, to determine who installed and used the spyware, and to announce the results of the investigation to the public. The responsible persons must be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

This is not only an attack on me personally, and on me as rector of the University of Belgrade, but it is a threat to the privacy of data, my contacts and communication. Thus, all of them are also a target for abuse of surveillance technologies.

The university must remain a space of free thinking, critical dialogue and institutional autonomy. Any attempt to intimidate or monitor its representatives represents an attack on the entire academic community and democratic society.

I invite the public, the academic community and international organizations to insist on the full responsibility of those in charge.
