Recognition of foreign higher education documents

Recognition of foreign higher education document is a procedure which grants the document holder the right to continue education or find employment.


Recognition for the purpose of further education


The procedure of recognition for the purpose of further education entails the evaluation of a foreign study programme or its part and establishes the candidate’s right to continue the enroled course or enrol a certain study programme.
The recognition of a foreign higher education document for the purpose of further education is carried out by the University, in accordance with the Book of Rules.
Candidates submit the request for recognition of foreign higher education document to the Archive of the University of Belgrade (Studentski trg 1, Begrade, Room No.1)

Candidates should submit the following documentation:
1. filled out request form (two copies);
2. proof of payment of procedure expenses;
3. two certified photocopies of a foreign higher education document;
4. two copies of translation of the foreign higher education document into the Serbian language, certified by an authorized court interpreter – without the translation of the acquired title;
5. two certified copies of diploma supplement or course record transcript;
6. two copies of the translation of the document referred to under Point 5 of this Article into the Serbian language, certified by an authorized court interpreter;
7. two certified copies of a decision by the authorized body on name and/or surname change for persons who have changed their name and/or surname
During the procedure, a candidate may also be asked to submit other documents relevant for document recognition. Information deemed relevant is also that seen on the official Internet site of the higher education institution which issued the document in question. At a candidate’s request, if the submitted documentation is complete, the University issues the confirmation of the initiated procedure of recognition of the higher education document for the purpose of further education.

Recognition for employment purposes


The procedure of recognition of foreign higher education document for employment purposes entails establishing the type and level of studies, as well as professional, academic or scientific title.
The recognition of a foreign higher education document for employment purposes is carried out by the University, in accordance with the Book of Rules.
Candidates submit the request for recognition of foreign higher education document to their respective Faculties.
Candidates should submit the following documentation:
1. filled out request form;
2. proof of payment of procedure expenses;
3. original document and 3 photocopies;
4. original translation of the foreign higher education document certified by an authorised court interpreter, and 3 photocopies;
5. course record transcript or student’s index, original and 3 photocopies;
6. a short summary of subject contents and study volume, e.g. program and curriculum of the foreign higher education institution (3 copies);
7. final thesis (degree, master or doctoral thesis)
8. certificate of citizenship;
