Doctoral Studies

In accordance with the Law on Higher Education, the University of Belgrade organizes PhD academic studies, lasting at least three years and granting, upon their completion, not less than 180 ECTS points. A student who completes doctoral studies of third degree acquires the scientific title of a Doctor of Philosophy in their respective field: Ph.D., Dr. sci. or Dr. juris. Doctoral studies are completed when passing all required exams, writing the PhD thesis and its public defending.

Promotion ceremony is held for persons who are declared Doctors of Philosophy, having fulfilled the conditions determined by the law and defended a doctoral thesis.
