The recognition of foreign higher education documents for the purpose of further education is is a procedure which grants the document holder the right to continue education at the University of Belgrade.
The procedure is initiated by submitting, via post office or in person, two copies of request for recognition of foreign higher education document to the Archive of the University of Belgrade (1 Studentski trg, Begrade, office No.1, Monday-Friday 08:30-16:00).
The request shall be accompanied by:
1) two photocopies of a diploma and diploma supplement (list of exams passed) certified by the public notary in the Republic of Serbia;
2) two copies of translation of a diploma and diploma supplement (list of exams passed) into the Serbian language, certified by an authorized court interpreter of the Republic of Serbia;
3) proof of payment of procedure expenses;
4) proof of payment of republic administrative fee;
5) decision by the authorized body on name and/or surname change for persons who have changed their name and/or surname.
The candidate may initiate the procedure for the recognition of a document on completed part of a study program for the purpose of continuing studies at the same level of higher education. The candidate shall submit, along with two copies of the request for recognition of foreign higher education document :
1) two photocopies of the certificate on completed part of a study program, certified by the public notary in the Republic of Serbia and two copies of translation of this document into the Serbian language, certified by an authorized court interpreter of the Republic of Serbia;
2) two photocopies of the transcript of records with a short content of the completed part of the study program, certified by the public notary in the Republic of Serbia and two copies of translation of this document into the Serbian language, certified by an authorized court interpreter of the Republic of Serbia;
3) complete information on the study program curriculum in electronic or printed form;
4) decision by the authorized body on name and/or surname change for persons who have changed their name and/or surname;
5) proof of payment of the recognition procedure;
6) proof of payment of republic administrative fee.
The candidate initiating the procedure for the purpose of further education at specialist or doctoral academic studies, shall submit along with the two copies of the request for recognition of foreign higher education document :
1) two photocopies of a bachelor and master diploma and diploma supplement (list of exams passed) certified by the public notary in the Republic of Serbia;
2) two copies of translation of a bachelor and master diploma and diploma supplement (list of exams passed) into the Serbian language, certified by an authorized court interpreter of the Republic of Serbia;
3) decision by the authorized body on name and/or surname change for persons who have changed their name and/or surname;
4) proof of payment of the recognition procedure;
5) proof of payment of republic administrative fee.
Fee for the recognition of a foreign higher education document for the purpose of further education is 15,000 RSD (instructions for payment in dinars / instructions for payment in euros
).
Republic administrative fee for academic recognition of foreign higher education documents is 11,480.00 RSD (eleven thousand four hundred and eighty dinars) - (Payment instructions).
During the procedure, a candidate may also be asked to submit other documents relevant for recognition procedure.
Exceptionally, if the the diploma has not been issued at the time of initiating the procedure, candidate may submit a certificate on graduation or other document as a proof of having successfully completed a higher education program, which is of temporary character and may serve to determine its holder’s rights until the diploma has been issued. The candidate is obligated to submit to the University two certified photocopies and translations of the diploma, along with the original for inspection, by the time the procedure is completed.
Deadline: There is no exact deadline to start the recognition procedure, but note that when applying to study program at the particular faculty candidate has to submit, among the other documentation, decision on recognition or confirmation of the initiated procedure of recognition. At a candidate’s request, if the submitted documentation is complete, the University issues the confirmation of the initiated procedure of recognition of the higher education document for the purpose of further education.
